Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced on Wednesday that Rockford IceHogs goaltender Michel Robinson was named the Southern Sports Supply Goalie of the Month for January. Robinson is the second IceHogs goalie to earn the honor in club history.

Robinson, the 2004-05 UHL Goaltender of the Year, picks up his first career monthly award. In January, Robinson compiled a record of 5-0-1 with a goals against average of 2.17 and a save percentage of .931. The Hogs backstop, along with goalie partner Ronnie Vogel, led the Hogs to a 9-1-2 month and a record of 14-1-4 in the club's last 19 contests.

Overall, Robinson leads the UHL with a .925 save percentage. The third-year goalie is the third overall rated goaltender in the UHL with a record of 13-5-2 and a goals against average of 2.36. Robinson also has a 10-game unbeaten streak (8-0-2), two shy of Vogel's 12-game mark (10-0-2) set earlier this season.

The only other goalie to earn the Goalie of the Month recognition for the IceHogs is Vogel, who picked up the award when he played for Rockford in October 2003 after playing in only three games to open the season. Robinson joins current Hogs center Preston Mizzi with a monthly award this season, as Mizzi picked up the UHL's Player of the Month for October.

Next Home Game: Friday, February 10 vs. Quad City Mallards. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Mallards collide at the MetroCentre once again. The world famous "Zooperstars" will entertain the crowd at the game.

Saturday, February 11 vs. Missouri River Otters. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Rockford and Missouri hook up in Rockford for one final time in '05-06. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs Thunder Stick from Thompson's Transmissions and Everything 95.3FM. For tickets to either game, call (815) 968-5222.
