
Richmond's Oliveira and Rockford's Robinson earn monthly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Wednesday that Richmond RiverDogs center Mike Oliveira has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Month and Rockford IceHogs goaltender Michel Robinson has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Month for January.
Oliveira completed the month with 19 points (10g, 9a) and a plus-2 rating in 12 games played. After being held scoreless in his first game of the month, he ended January on an 11-game point streak. He is also currently riding a seven-game goal streak. He had seven multi-point games during the month. The 26-year-old native of West Lorne, Ontario is currently fourth in UHL scoring with 55 points (28g, 27a). His 28 goals are tied for second most in the league. Oliveira was selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic and dished out one assist for Team Aquafina.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Month include: Adirondack center Sylvain Cloutier, Danbury center David Hymovitz, Elmira left wing Kevin Cooper, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Kalamazoo center Tyler Rennette, Missouri center Lars Pettersen, Motor City forward Peter Szabo, Muskegon center Jeff Nelson, Quad City center Glenn Detulleo, Roanoke left wing Mike Wiggins, and Rockford center Preston Mizzi.
Robinson finished the month with a 5-0-1 record, a 2.17 goals against average (GAA), and a .931 save percentage (SPCT). He was unbeaten in regulation during the month. He did not allow more than two goals in five of his six starts. The 23-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec stopped eight of the nine shooters he faced in the shootout in January. Robinson currently leads UHL goaltenders with a .925 SPCT and ranks third with a 2.36 GAA this season.
