After scoring a total of 14 goals in their last game, the Eagles and Blazers played the first period right where they left off, with plenty of offense. The Eagles took an early lead with their potent power play unit on a goal from Matt Desrosiers at the 1:39 mark when he one-timed a pass from Aaron Grosul. Robertson also assisted on the play for his first of six assists on the night. The teams played the rest of the first half of the period scoreless but then exploded for a total of five goals in just over four minutes of play. Eagles captain Greg Pankewicz chipped in their second power play goal of the game on a great pass from Tobler giving Colorado a 2-1 lead, but the Blazers quickly responded when Joe Dustin tied the game again only 19 seconds later. It seemed as though the teams were both skating downhill as the pace went back-and-forth, and it was Ryan Tobler that broke the tie for the final time when he scored Colorado's third goal of the game. Fraser Filipic and Robertson tallied assists on the goal, it was Robertson's third assist on as many goals. Finally, Eagles' defenseman Erik Adams netted a power play blast giving the Eagles a 4-2 lead converting on their third power play in as many chances. It was the only goal of the Eagles' seven that Sean Robertson did not record an assist.
Ryan Tobler and Matt Desrosiers each scored their second goals of the game to extend the Eagles lead to 6-2 only 8:36 into the second period, and Garrett Larson made it a five-goal game ona rap-around goal with just a couple minutes left in the period.
