Roberts Dazzles in Relief, Bullfrogs Fall Below .500

After taking an early 1-0 lead in the second inning, The Bullfrogs were held scoreless by Wisconsin pitching throughout the rest of the game en route to a 7-1 loss from Joannes Stadium.

The Bullfrogs took the 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI groundout from Alex Abrams. Billy Moon scored on the play.

It was all Woodchucks from that point forward. Wisconsin brought home three in the third inning to take a 3-1 lead. Brooks Braga, Eric Filia-Snyder, and Joe Serrano scored on RBIs from Brenden Hayden, Serrano, and Nate Irving.

Wisconsin tacked on three more in the fourth to increase its lead to 6-1. Bryant Munoz, Mike Bernal, and Braga scored on RBIs from Hayden and Bernal.

The game remained scoreless until the eighth, when a Bullfrogs error allowed Eric Filia-Snyder to score.

The Bullfrogs had four errors on the night.

At one point, Wisconsin starter Austin Pettibone retired 18 consecutive Bullfrogs batters. This stretch ranged from the second inning through the seventh.

The loss was charged to Parker Schrage (0-3), who gave up four earned runs in three plus innings. Matt Roberts pitched four scoreless innings in relief. He gave up just two hits while striking out four Woodchucks. David Armendariz gave up one unearned run in two innings of work. He struck out five Woodchucks batters.

With the loss, the Bullfrogs have fallen to 29-30 on the season. This is the first time that they have been under .500 since June 10, when they were 5-6.

The Bullfrogs hit the road again tomorrow to take on the LaCrosse Loggers from Copeland Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. If you cannot make it to the game, you can go to northwoodsleague.tv to watch live or to greenbaybullfrogs.com to listen live.
