Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

BATTLE CREEK, MI - Ryan Harris allowed just five hits and struck out six in eight and two-thirds scoreless innings, as the Lakeshore Chinooks defeated the Battle Creek Bombers 4-0, shutting them out for a second consecutive game to earn a series sweep.

Harris dazzled the Bombers all game long and kept them off-balance, featuring a low 90s fastball, slider, and split-changeup. He surrendered just three hits through eight.

Daniel Rockett had three of the five Bomber hits on the day. Colin Willis and Casey Yocom collected the others.

The Chinooks got on the board against Bombers starter Kyle Teague with two outs in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie, as Forrest Chadwick laced an RBI double that took one hop off the center field wall. They tacked on another in the seventh when Chadwick drew a bases loaded walk off relief pitcher Ethan Bramschreiber. The Chinooks would add two more insurance runs in the eighth inning.

Teague pitched very well for the second straight time. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one run in his six innings of work. He now has only given up four hits in his past two starts, a span of 11.2 innings.

The Bombers hit the road on Thursday for the final time this summer. The five game trip begins with three against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. First pitch Thursday night is 8:05 E.T. Caleb Vincent will start on the hill for Battle Creek.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
