Robert Brown is back

Montreal, February 16, 2004 - Montreal Alouettes' General Manager, Jim Popp announced today that, defensive tackle Robert Brown has signed a new contract for two years plus an option with the organisation. Popp also announced that wide receiver and kick/punt returner Tony Horne and tackle Robert Hicks have signed with the team.

"Signing Rob Brown was important to us, he adds a lot of strength and depth to our defensive line, he was a key player in the East Division Final last year, he brings a lot of stability to the team on the field and in the locker room," explained Jim Popp.

"The Alouettes have always been fair and demonstrated the upmost respect towards me, I wanted to play with this club and my teammates, Montreal is a great place to play. I made the decision with my wife, her support was a key element in my decision making," said Brown.

# 94 Robert Brown - Defensive tackle

The 6'3", 260 lbs. tackle signed as a free agent in 2002. In 2003, he started 11 of his 12 regular season games and recorded 17 defensive tackles, 5 sacks, 1 pass knock down, forced 1 fumble, and recorded 2 tackles for loss (5 yds). Brown also started in the 2003 East Division Final where he recorded 3 defensive tackles, 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss (3 yds). For further information, please see attached biography.

Tony Horne - Wide receiver

Horne is a 5'10", 180 lbs. wide receiver who can also return kicks and punts. The Clemson University product signed with the St-Louis Rams in 1998 where he played 16 games and returned 1 punt, 56 kickoff returns for 1 306 yards and 1 touchdown, averaging 23.3 yards. In 1999, Horne played 12 games in the Rams uniform returning 5 punts for 22 yards averaging 4.4 yards. He also returned 30 kicks for 892 yards and 2 touchdowns, averaging 29.7 yards. In 2000, he played 11 games for the Rams, returning 1 punt for 16 yards and 11 kicks for 57 yards and 1 touchdown. As a wide receiver he caught 4 passes for 32 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed twice for 6 yards. Horne signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in April of 2001 and attended their training camp. Horne won the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2000.

Robert Hicks - Tackle

The 6'7", 325 lbs. tackle from Atlanta Georgia was the Buffalo Bills' 6th round draft pick (68 overall) in the 1998 NFL Draft. In his first season with the Bills, he played 10 games including 2 starts. Hicks earned the starting right tackle spot during his second season when he started all 14 games that he played in 1999. In 2000, Hicks played 14 games, starting 7 for Buffalo. After attending camp and being waived by Buffalo, Hicks was claimed by Detroit, attended camp with the Lions and later signed with the Houston Texans in December. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons in February of 2003 and attended camp with the team in August. Hicks attended Mississippi State.
