Rob Wort Added to Carolina League All-Star Game

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - The Carolina League has announced that reliever Rob Wort has been added to the Carolina League All-Star roster. Wort leads minor league baseball relievers with 15.4 strikeouts per 9 innings.

Wort, 23, has complied a 1.10 ERA and five saves over 21 appearances for Potomac. He has struck out 56 batters while walking just 9 and yielding zero homers in 32 2/3 innings of work for the P-Nats. His rate of 15.4 K/9 is the second best in all of affiliated baseball to Adrolis Chapman of the Cincinnati Reds.

It's the first All-Star selection for Wort who is in his fourth year of professional baseball. Wort was a 30th Round pick of the 2009 Draft and signed with Washington instead of attending Missouri State.

Wort joins David Freitas who will start the game at catcher as the two Potomac representatives in Winston-Salem.

The 2012 Calfornia-Carolina League All-Star game takes place on Tuesday, June 19th at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at 7:15 PM. For tickets and more information, visit www.wsdash.com.
