
Roadrunners Outlasted By \'Wings In Extras

HARLINGEN, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners dropped their fourth straight game after being outlasted by the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in a 4-3 loss in 13 innings Friday night at Harlingen Field.
The Roadrunners (3-7) got the scoring started in the top of the third against RGV starter Eric Blackwell. Michael Lewis walked with two outs and then came into score on an RBI double by Brandon Wilkerson making it 1-0 Edinburg.
The WhiteWings (7-3) tied the game in the bottom of the fifth without getting a hit against Edinburg starter Scott Wingo. Leo Delgado led off the inning with a walk and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After moving to third on a wild pitch, Delgado came into score on an RBI groundout by Tim Ratola that tied the game at one.
Edinburg broke the tie in the top of the seventh inning against reliever Danny Rondon. With runners at second and third and two outs, a wild pitch allowed Adam Gordon to score and then a throwing error by the catcher allowed Michael Lewis to score giving the Roadrunners the 3-1 edge.
The WhiteWings tied the ball game in the bottom of the ninth against closer Julio Castro. Ratola walked with two outs and then came into score on an RBI double by Antonio De Jesus. After a walk to Ventura, Hernandez followed with an RBI single that score De Jesus tying the game at three.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 13th when Hernandez hit an RBI walk-off single with the bases loaded that allowed Ratola to score the game winning run giving RGV the 4-3 victory.
Mickey Cassidy (1-0) picked up the win after holding Edinburg scoreless for two innings and Blake Parry (0-1) got the tough loss after allowing the game winning run in the 13th.
The Roadrunners and WhiteWings will play game three of their four-game series Saturday night at Harlingen Field. Ryan Harris (1-1) is expected to face Andy Wells (1-0) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
