
Roadrunners Complete Sweep, Extend Streak

EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners completed the four-game sweep of the San Angelo Colts with a 6-1 victory Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The win extends the Roadrunners win streak to five games.
Mike Reeves (1-1) picked up the win after pitching five innings and allowing one run on seven hits and striking out three.
San Angelo (5-9) got on the board in the top of the first with an RBI ground out by Jason Landreth making it 1-0.
Wilson Batista hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first that drove in Wilmer Pino from second tying things at one.
In the bottom of the second, Robert Matlock reached on an error and later scored on an RBI single by Pino. With bases loaded, Felix Molina hit a sacrifice fly to left field that allowed Alexis Hernandez to score. Batista followed with an RBI single to right scoring Adam Matos for the third run of the inning. Ambiorix Concepcion wrapped up the scoring with an RBI single that drove in Pino from third making it 5-1 Roadrunners.
Edinburg (11-3) added another run in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single by Eddie Wilson making it 6-1.
Aaron Guerra, Ricardo Serrano and Robbie Nelson pitched four innings of relief and allowed just one hit.
Nelson pitched a scoreless ninth giving Edinburg the 6-1 victory.
The Roadrunners and Laredo Broncos begin a four-game series Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Wardell Starling (2-0) is expected to face Dimitri Camareno with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
