NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 26)- Texas hit the road once again Tuesday night to face Bossier-Shreveport and look to turn around their luck in opposition's venues, but instead lost their fourth consecutive road game 4-2.
Jason Deitsch put Texas on the board first at the 4:05 mark in the opening period with an unassisted goal, his seventh of the season. Texas continued to pepper 'Bugs netminder John DeCaro with 17 shots and headed into the first intermission with the single goal lead.
It was a blur of Bossier goals in the middle frame as Brett Jaeger and the Texas defense allowed three unanswered goals. Joe Blaznek recorded a shorthanded tally early followed by a goal from Simon Mangos :37 seconds later. Just as things began to settle in the game for the Brahmas, Justin Aikins saucered a pass to a rushing David Rutherford for the 3-1 'Bugs lead. Texas' leading scorer, Jordan Cameron put the Brahmas within one when he took a pass from linemates Tyler Skworchinski and Matt Burto with seven minutes remaining in the second.
Penalties were a non-factor in the final period as none were called, but even with open ice and an empty penalty box, Texas was unable to recover offensively. With the extra attacker on the ice with just over a minute remaining and Jaeger on the bench, Blaznek scored the go-ahead goal on an empty net for the 4-2 win.
The Brahmas next game will be Friday in Laredo when they take on the Bucks for a 7:30 PM game. Texas' next home game is Sunday against the Tulsa Oilers at 4:05 PM. For tickets please call the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
