BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs scored three consecutive goals in the second period to take a lead they would never relinquish in a 4-2 victory over the Texas Brahmas Tuesday night at the CenturyTel Center. The win pushed the Mudbugs over.500 at home for the first time this year at 9-8-0 and improved their overall record to 21-14-4.

Joe Blaznek scored twice in the game, with Simon Mangos and David Rutherford notching the other two goals as Bossier-Shreveport beat Texas for the third time this year. John DeCaro made 28 saves on the way to his 12th victory of the season.

Texas held a 1-0 lead after one period thanks to Jason Deitsch, who stole a puck at center and skated in before beating DeCaro from the left circle at 4:05. The 'Bugs missed on three first-period powerplays and were outshot 17-10 to open the game.

The home club came out firing in the second period, scoring two quick goals to take the lead. Joe Blaznek tied the game at one with a shorthanded goal, firing a wrist shot past Brett Jaeger's blocker after stealing the puck and racing down the ice on a breakaway. The 'Bugs then took the lead just 37 seconds later as Brett Smith started another odd-man rush before dishing to Joe Ori, who left the puck out front to be tapped in by Simon Mangos at 2:51.

David Rutherford scored the eventual game-winner later in the period, receiving a Justin Aikins pass and roofing the puck over Jaeger's shoulder from between the circles to give the 'Bugs a 2-1 advantage. Jordan Cameron one-timed a great centering feed from Tyler Skworchinski past DeCaro to cut the lead to one less than a minute later, but Bossier-Shreveport carried the 3-2 lead into the third.

The Mudbugs limited the Brahmas to just six shots on goal in the final period and sealed the win when Blaznek scored his second of the night into an empty net at 18:56.

Brett Jaeger made 24 saves for Texas, who outshot Bossier-Shreveport 30-28 in the game. The Mudbugs finished 0 for 5 on the powerplay, while the Brahmas were 0 for 3.

The 'Bugs will continue their homestand with a pair of games this weekend at the CenturyTel Center.
