Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Kalamazoo, MI: Despite scoring first, the Road Warriors allowed three straight goals to lose on Saturday night against the Kalamazoo Wings by a score of 3-2.
The Road Warriors killed two early penalties in the first period to keep Kalamazoo's offense at bay. Jason Missiaen came up with a huge glove save on one-timer in the final minutes of the first period which saw two consecutive scoring chances from the Wings. The period concluded with a scoreless tie.
The Road Warriors began the scoring in the second period just 37 seconds in with a tally from Andrew Rowe. The forward won a face-off to Marc-Olivier Vallerand who drove the net with a shot. Rowe found a rebound to score his first of the playoffs. Sam Noreau took a double-minor penalty to put the Road Warriors down a man for four minutes halfway through the second period. Dustin Cloutier scored on the power play with a wrist shot beating Missiaen. About three minutes later, Matt Caria beat Mike Marcou on the wing and whistled a shot past Missiaen. Cloutier assisted on the goal to give Kalamazoo a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
Kalamazoo extended their lead with a goal 7:10 into the third period from David Pacan. Eric Kattelus found Pacan open in the slot to bring the lead to a 3-1 score. Greenville brought the game back within one after a one-timer goal from Mike Marcou. Sean Berkstresser fed the defenseman in front of the net for his first professional point. Missiaen was pulled for the extra attacker but the Road Warriors could not salvage a goal and lost by a score of 3-2.
