Rivets Halt Madison's Nine-Game Streak

?Loves Park, Il. - The Rockford Rivets defeated the Madison Mallards on Friday night at Rivets Stadium by a score of 7-2 and snap the Mallards' nine game win streak in the process.

Rockford put up two runs in the second inning after designated hitter Brennan Reback singled and put the Rivets ahead early 2-0.

Madison finished the game with five errors and after the Rivets scratched across a run in the fourth inning, they scored two runs in the fifth after two errors committed by the Mallards to go up 5-0.

The Rivets would add some insurance in the seventh when second baseman Kian O'Brien singled to score an additional two runs.

Tyler "Big Country" Thornton started the game on the mound for the Rivets and gave the Mallards problems throughout the game. He went 6.1 innings while allowing one earned run and striking out 11 batters.

Rockford will now travel to Wisconsin Rapids to take on the Rafters at 6:05 pm.
