Dock Spiders Shutout Woodchucks Behind Sanderlin

FOND DU LAC, WI - Peyton Sanderlin (Christian Brothers University) would go the distance on the mound for the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (33-22) in a 2-0 win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks (23-32). Sanderlin noted in the post game interview that going the distance was not something new to him as he recalls going the distance about eight times in thirteen starts at school this season.
Sanderlin finished the night with 104 pitches 68 of which were for strikes, allowing no runs, five hits, two walks, while dishing out three strikeouts. It was the second complete game on the season for the Dock Spiders.
Tyler Wardwell (Duke) knocked one off the right field fence for a one out double. Wardwell would then be sent home by Jack Wassel (Minnesota) who came through clutch with a two out base hit.
The 1-0 lead for Fondy would stay constant until the 4th. After the Woodchucks gave up a leadoff walk and then two base hits, one from Wardwell and one from Kiambu Fentress (Vanderbilt), Wassel would get credit with a sacrifice fly sending home Zabowski for run number two.
Fond du Lac would only need to runs as they shutout the Woodchucks for the second time this season and earned their sixth shutout overall.
Fondy will head to Kenosha this week for a two game stand at Simmons Field. Game number one is tomorrow night at 6:05 PM.
