Riversharks Fall In Extra Innings

(CAMDEN, NJ) In the second extra innings game of the series, the Riversharks were defeated by the Patriots, 5-4. Jerry Dunn was awarded the win (3-2) while Scott Williamson earned his 6th save. Ryan McKellar was charged with the loss. He is now 4-6 for the season.

With no outs on the board, Michael Hernandez blasted a solo home run into left field to put the Patriots on top 1-0. Two batters later, Noah Hall hit a two run homer into the same spot, giving the visitors a three run cushion. Hall drove in Matt Hagen who singled just before. One more run was added just before the inning ended. Wayne Lydon singled into right field, driving in Joe Holden who was pinch running for Elliot Ayala.

The 'Sharks came alive in the bottom of the fifth. Estee Harris hit a ground rule double into center field. Juan Francia came to the plate next and singled, hitting the ball right past the shortstop and driving in Harris. Matt Ceriani was next to bat and advanced the runners with his hit and run single into right field. A sacrifice fly from Chris Walker drove in Francia to cut the Patriot lead in half. Richie Robnett was given a free pass to first before Brian Burgamy drove in another runner with a single into right field. The inning ended with a 4-3 score, the 'Sharks only one run behind.

In the bottom of the eighth frame, Teuris Olivares singled and two batters later with an RBI triple from Francia, the score was tied 4-4.

Both teams looked to jump ahead in the final inning but came up short.

The Patriots came out strong in extra innings. The first batter, Michael Hernandez struck again with his second solo home run of the game, again placed over the left field wall.
