Riversharks Drop Series Opener

(CAMDEN, NJ) The Riversharks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers with a score of 9-3. Jason Simontacchi earned the win this evening and is now (5-6) for the season. Brad Knox took the loss for the home team (4-8).

Lancaster jumped out to a strong lead in the top of the first. The five runs were scored with just two hits against Knox. Aaron Herr shot a three run double into left field. The next batter, Reggie Taylor, blasted a two run homer that bounced off the top of the scoreboard to put Lancaster ahead 5-0.

Sean Smith tried to rally the 'Sharks with his solo home run at the bottom of the first frame, but the Barnstormers came on strong again in the next few frames.

Two more runs were scored in the second and another two were added in the third. L.J. Biernbaum hit a two run double, extending the Barnstormer lead to a six run cushion.

The bats were silent on both sides for the rest of the game with the final score remaining 9-3 for the series opener at Campbell's Field.
