January 7, 2015 - SPHL (SPHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
PEORIA - Peoria Rivermen goalie Kyle Rank is the Southern Professional Hockey League's Easton Player of the Month after going through December unbeaten in regulation.
Rank turned in a 5-0-1 record last month with a 1.86 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. In 18 appearances this season, Rank is 11-5-1 with the second-most wins in the league and third-most saves. He carries a 2.23 goals against average and a .922 save percentage, both fourth-best in the SPHL. The Islip, N.Y. native is in his second season with the Rivermen and was named SPHL Goalie of the Year last season.
The Rivermen also re-signed defenseman Nick Schneider on Wednesday. Schneider was traded to the Huntsville Havoc on Dec. 27 for future considerations, but could not report because his addition put the Havoc over their allotted number of veterans. The 5-9, 170-pound native of Maplewood, Minn. registered 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points with 17 penalty minutes in 20 games this season with Peoria.
The Rivermen begin a six-game home stand on Friday with a three-game weekend series with the Mississippi RiverKings. Peoria is 15-7-2 for 32 points, tied with Knoxville for second place in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The RiverKings are seventh with a record of 11-12-2 for 24 points. Face-offs are 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3:05 p.m. Sunday. Games can be viewed via subscription at SPHLLive.com and heard for free at www.rivermen.net and inside Carver Arena on 93.7 FM.
Coca-Cola Finally Friday features two tickets for only $20, plus fans can get a Loaded Ticket including a hot dog, popcorn and drink for only $15 on Friday. Saturday is Star Wars Night with appearances by Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers, and special Star Wars jersey worn by the Rivermen to be auctioned after the game to benefit Fuller Center. Unity Point Health Methodist/Proctor hosts a Wellness Fair on the Carver Arena concourse before and during Saturday's game. Sunday is PJ Star Family Fun Day with appearances by Dora the Explorer and Boots, a Family Fun Zone in the Great Hall from 2:00 to 3:00 with Fun on the Run inflatables, Wild Style Design face painting and Unique Twist balloon animals, plus $1 tickets for kids 12 and under and $3 kids meals (hot dog, chips, drink).
Single game tickets for Peoria's 33rd season of professional hockey are on sale weekdays at the Peoria Civic Center. Season ticket packages and group ticket options for the 2014-15 campaign are on sale now through the Rivermen office, located at 201 S.W. Jefferson Street, or over the phone at (309) 676-1040.
