Peoria's Kyle Rank Named Easton Player of the Month

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (January 7, 2014) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Kyle Rank of the Peoria Rivermen is the Easton Player of the Month for December.

Rank went 5-0-1, posting a 1.86 goals against average and a .941 save percentage, in helping Peoria maintain their hold on second place in the standings and the league's best home record.

The Islip, NY native is currently second in the SPHL in wins (11) and minutes played, third in saves and fourth in goals against average (2.23) and save percentage (.922). Rank has not given up more than two goals in an outing since allowing three to Pensacola on November 29.

Rank set a new SPHL single-season record with eight shutouts (seven with Peoria) last season, while his 1.89 goals against average and .938 save percentage were both the second-best marks in league history and earned him Goaltender of the Year honors. Rank played parts of four seasons with Bentley (MA) University, where he finished in the school's career leaders in save percentage (2nd), goals against average (3rd) and wins (6th).
