Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed winger Mitchell McPherson to an amateur tryout contract before tonight's rematch with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. The singing comes after the Peoria native finished his collegiate career at Hamline University this season, wrapping up his career with 43 goals and 41 assists in 103 career NCAA D-III games.

McPherson, 24, is a native of Peoria who played two of his five junior seasons with the Peoria Mustangs, of the CSHL in 2009-10 and NA3HL in 2014-15. During a pair of junior seasons with the NAHL's Texas Tornado from 2011-13, McPherson played for former Rivermen defenseman Tony Curtale, and teamed with current Rivermen Justin Greenberg and Nick Neville in Texas' 2011-12 Robertson Cup season.

McPherson joins the Rivermen for tonight's home game against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs at 7:15, which is Peoria's Hockey Fights Cancer Night presented by the Dax Foundation. The Rivermen will wear specialty jerseys for the game and auction them off postgame. The Rivermen and Dawgs will wrap up their season series Sunday at 3:05 on Peoria's final Peoria Journal Star Family Fun Sunday, with a pregame Kids Fest, discounted tickets for kids 12 & under, and a postgame skate with the Rivermen on the Carver Arena ice. Tickets for all of Peoria's remaining home games are available by calling the Rivermen office at (309) 676-1040, and a full schedule is available at rivermen.net.

Single-game, group and season tickets for Peoria's 37th season of professional hockey presented by Midwest Orthopaedic Center are on sale at the Toyota Box Office in the Peoria Civic Center, or by phone at the Rivermen office, located at 201 S.W.
