Peoria Rivermen News Release

The Peoria Rivermen are proud to announce they have teamed up with the Alzheimer's Association to help raise funds and awareness to fight the disease.

On Friday, Nov. 22, the Rivermen will give $5 from every $17 lower bowl ticket sold to the Alzheimer's Association when they battle the Pensacola Ice Flyers at Carver Arena at 7:15 p.m.

In addition, all fans who purchase a lower bowl ticket will receive a special edition T-shirt, designed by Alzheimer's exec and former Rivermen community services representative Kari Gabbert.

"This partnership makes perfect sense," Gabbert said. "The Alzheimer's Association strives to preserve memories while the Rivermen have such a deep rooted history with such fond memories in Peoria. We are beyond grateful for this opportunity and look forward to increasing awareness for both the cause and the team."

In October, Gabbert headed Peoria's 22nd annual Walk to End Alzheimer's, which raised more than $156,000. Among those who participated in the walk included Rivermen alternate captain Ryan Raven, as well as members of the Rivermen front office and booster club. The Rivermen team alone raised more than $900.

Founded in 1980, the Alzheimer's Association is a non-profit voluntary health organization which focuses on care, support and research for the Alzheimer's disease. Approximately 24 million people worldwide are living with the disease, including 5 million Americans. Someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's every 68 seconds.
