PEORIA - After recording the second-most wins in any Southern Professional Hockey League regular season, Peoria Rivermen goaltender Kyle Rank has earned All-SPHL First Team honors.

Rank completed the regular campaign for the first-place Rivermen with a record of 27-12-2. The 27 wins were second this season and tied for second all-time for one SPHL campaign. His 2.40 goals against average was fourth and he registered the sixth-best save percentage of .916. His 2,416 minutes and 43 appearances were both second in the circuit this season.

The 27-year-old native of Islip, N.Y. is in his fourth professional season, all in the SPHL, and second with the Rivermen. Rank was named the SPHL Goaltender of the Year last season.

Other first-team selections announced Thursday by the SPHL include forwards Matt Gingera of Columbus, Adam Pawlick of Pensacola and Matt Whitehead of Mississippi; and defensemen Andrew Randazzo of Mississippi and Louis Belisle of Columbus.

Second-team members include forwards Corey Banfield of Pensacola, Ryan Salvis of Knoxville and Bryce Williamson of Columbus; defensemen Jan Safar of Fayetteville and Stuart Stefan of Huntsville; and goalie Peter Di Salvo of Mississippi.

The Rivermen return to home ice for Game 2 of their first-round best-of-three President's Cup playoff series on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. face-off against the Louisiana IceGators. Louisiana took the series opener 3-2 on Wednesday at the Cajundome with the game-winner scoring at 18:57 of the second overtime for the second-longest playoff game in SPHL history. The third and deciding game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Saturday also at Carver Arena.
