Rivermen right wing Ryan Raven was injured in a collision with the boards with 16.1 seconds remaining in the second period, fracturing a vertebrae in his back. There is no paralysis. He was removed from the ice on a stretcher and remains in Louisiana for surgery. He is out for the remainder of the playoffs.
Wednesday's 3-2 Louisiana win over the Rivermen in Game 1 took 98:57 of playing time and is the second longest playoff game in the 11-year history of the Southern Professional Hockey League, surpassing a 2010 contest at Knoxville which the host Ice Bears won over the Fayetteville FireAntz 6-5 in 97:04. The longest playoff game in SPHL history was won by Louisiana 2-1 at Huntsville at 11:20 of the third overtime for a total of 111:20 on April 5, 2013.
