Peoria Rivermen News Release
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE SOME MORRA
Last night's 4-2 Rivermen victory included a pair of third period goals from Rivermen winger Steve Morra, who has 10 goals to go with nine assists for the season in just 14 games since coming out of retirement. SO far this season Morra has six points in his last four games and four multi-point games for the season.
THE MASKED MAN
Peoria goaltender Kyle Rank entered play last night after being named SPHL Easton Player of the Week following his performance in last weekend's games, which saw him allow one total goal over 67 total shots faced. Rank followed up his Player of the Week effort with a 30-save performance last night to earn his league-best 15th win for the season, and his seventh in a row since a shootout loss December 12 against Mississippi. Rank has not lost a game in regulation since December 4 at Mississippi, and his 1.92 GAA for the season ranks him first among all active SPHL goaltenders with at least 600 minutes played, while his .934 save percentage places him second among active qualifiers.
THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH
Last night's 4-2 victory saw the Rivermen out-shoot Fayetteville 40-32, including a 14-6 edge in shots on goal in the first period. For the season, the Rivermen are out-shooting opponents 1056-880, and Peoria ranks first in the league in fewest SOG allowed per game while ranking second in shots taken on net per game. In the first period of games this season the Rivermen are out-shooting foes 383-272 and out-scoring opponents 41-17, each representing the widest such margin for any SPHL team in any single period this season.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's game the Rivermen will play two more games with Fayetteville at Carver Arena tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon. After that the Rivermen will return to the road for a trio of games February 4-6 in Macon and Fayetteville before returning home for three games with Louisiana February 12-14. Following the series with Louisiana the Rivermen will have a weekend without games before returning to their home ice for a pair with the Knoxville Ice Bears February 26 & 27.
