Henegar Nets Hat Trick; Havoc Thrash IceGators

Louisiana IceGators News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--One night after being embarrassed on their home ice by the Louisiana IceGators, the Huntsville Havoc returned the favor.

Scott Henegar scored six points, recording a hat track and three assists to lead the Havoc to a 6-1 victory over the IceGators. John Lidgett contributed two goals to the winning effort. Huntsville's power play was also spectacular, scoring four times on the man advantage out of six attempts.

The IceGators return to action next Friday night when they travel to Tennessee to play the Knoxville IceBears. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. Eastern Time.

"The Jekyll and Hide performances continue," IceGators head coach Drew Omicioli said. "We played the polar opposite of how we played Friday night. Horrible penalties hurt us, and Huntsville took advantage of the power plays."

Lidgett opened the scoring with a power play goal 104 seconds into the game off assists from Henegar and Jackson Brewer.

The IceGators tied the game with a power play goal of their own at the 13:21 mark of the second period. Jeremy Boyer evened the score with a goal off assists from Austin Daae and Travis Armstrong.

After that, Huntsville went on a rampage.

Henegar scored his first goal with 5:50 remaining in the middle frame to give the Havoc a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

Nick Schneider netted Huntsville's second power play goal of the night 7:19 into the third period off assists from Henegar and former IceGator Matt Robertson. Schneider returned the favor to Henegar four minutes later, assisting on Henegar's second goal of the night. Lidgett and Henegar tacked on two extra insurance goals in the final four minutes of the game.

Omicioli took exception to an attack on Tyler Barr at the beginning of the game by Huntsville's Jeremy Beirnes. Beirnes received a game misconduct for being an aggressor.

"The altercation at the beginning of the game was unwarranted," Omicioli said. "Beirnes decided to jump a defenseless player. I'm sure the league will review it. Over our first two games (against Huntsville), he repeatedly has denied Barr (a chance to fight), and then this happens."

The biggest disappointment, though, for Omicioli is how his team performed in the game and how they missed a golden opportunity to earn a weekend sweep.

"This is a disappointing weekend because we failed to take four points, but it's another wake-up call to let the guys know we have to compete and play disciplined game-in and game-out," Omicioli said. We'll now have to move on and go back to the drawing board."
