SUMMERS IN DECEMBER

The Rivermen enter play tonight with verteran winger Matt Summers, who was recently named SPHL Player of the Month for December, riding a five-game point streak. In eight December games, Summers notched 11 points, including seven points in a three-game span December 18-20 at Columbus and Huntsville. In 20 total games this season Summers has seven goals and nine assists.

SIDING WITH GREENSIDE

Peoria comes into tonight's contest with defenseman Brandon Greenside riding his own five-game point streak after he had an assist and was a career-high +4 in Peoria's January 2 win over Huntsville. Greenside has one goal and six assists in his last five contests, including three assists December 19 at Columbus. The former FireAntz blueliner has two goals and 12 assists this year in 22 games with Peoria, making he and Alec Hagaman the only two players on Peoria's roster to skate in all 22 Rivermen games this season.

THE MASKED MAN

Last weekend's wins over Huntsville marked the first two professional wins for Peoria goaltender David Jacobson, who had previously been 0-4-0 this season with Macon before being released. The rookie previously played four seasons for Division-III St. Norbert College, where he backstopped the Green Knights to a National Championship in 2013-14.

THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH

The Rivermen enter tonight's contest leading the league in fewest shots on goal allowed per game at 27.50, while also placing second in the SPHL offensively with 33.64 shots on goal per game. Peoria has out-shot opponents 270-181 in the first period this year, the widest such margin for any SPHL team in any period. The Rivermen are out-shooting their opponents 740-605 overall this season, leading the SOG battle in each individual period.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After tonight's game the Rivermen will play a rematch with Fayetteville tomorrow night before traveling to Macon for a January 10 game. After the Peoria will play January 15&16 at Huntsville before finishing a stretch of road games in Macon January 21 and Columbus January 22 &23. Peoria will return to their home ice for a three-game series with Fayetteville January 29-31.
