Peoria Rivermen News Release
I'D LIKE TO BUY A VOWEL
Last night's Peoria victory included a pair of assists for veteran defenseman Dave Pszenyczny, giving him his first multi-point game of the season in his ninth game with the Rivermen. Pszenyczny has a point or more in each of his last three games after he had a goal in Macon on Thursday and an assist last Saturday night in Huntsville.
A STU-PENDOUS RUN HALTED
Last night's game snapped a seven-game goal streak for Rivermen center Adam Stuart, who had recorded 12 points over the seven game stretch on seven goals and five assists, including three multi-point games over that span. The Calgary, Alberta native enters play tonight leading the Rivermen with 12 goals and 25 overall points.
THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH
The Rivermen enter tonight's contest second in the SPHL in shots on goal per game at 33.76 and leading the league in fewest SOG allowed per game at 27.93 after out-shooting the Cottonmouths 50-32 last night, including 22-10 in the first period. The Rivermen offense and defense also each lead the league in goals per game, with Peoria scoring 3.48 goals per game while allowing just 2.03. This season the Rivermen are out-shooting opponents 362-246 and out-scoring their foes 38-16 in the first period of games, each good for the widest margin for any team in any period this season. When leading after one period this season the Rivermen are 15-2-0.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's game the Rivermen will return to their home ice for the first time since January 2 when they play a three-game series with Fayetteville January 29-31. After that the Rivermen will return to the road for a trio of games February 4-6 in Macon and Fayetteville before returning home for three games with Louisiana February 12-14. After hosting the IceGators Peoria will have a weekend without games before hosting a pair with the defending champion Knoxville Ice Bears February 26 & 27.
