
RiverKings Winning Streak Continues

Columbus, GA - The Mississippi RiverKings kept their winning ways going Sunday evening in Columbus as they defeated the Cottonmouths 2-1 at the Civic Center. David Wilson continued his hot streak between the pipes as the 'Kings have now earned nine points in Wilson's last five starts.
The Cottonmouths got the scoring started at the 16:06 mark of the first period as John Sullivan's solo effort resulted in a quick wrist shot going over David Wilson to give Columbus the 1-0 lead.
The RiverKings responded with just seven seconds left to go in the first as Darrell Stoddard kept his point streak alive as he found Leland Fidler wide open at the point. Fidler's wrister beat Andrew Loewen high glove side to tie the game at one heading into the second period.
Scoring did not resume until the 14.53 mark of the third period, when Mike Tuomi broke free in the offensive zone and fed Jeff Topilko a pass that he tipped in through the legs of Loewen to give the RiverKings the 2-1 victory.
David Wilson picked up the victory in his second straight start, as he stopped 21 of 22 shots against to improve to 9-5-2 on the season. Andrew Loewen recorded the loss as he fell to 8-7-2 as he turned away 23 of 25 shots again.
The RiverKings look to keep their winning ways going at the Landers Center on Saturday, January 28 as they take on the Fayetteville FireAntz at 7:05. It's Pack the House and National Wild Turkey Federation Jersey Night as the team will wear specially designed NWTF jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
