Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Ryan Campbell had a goal and two assists to lead the Mississippi RiverKings over the Texas Brahmas 5-1 tonight at the DeSoto Civic Center.

The win puts the RiverKings (29-18-2) into fourth place in the Northern Conference. While they have 60 points just like the Youngstown SteelHounds, the RiverKings have more wins at the moment. While the Brahmas (28-19-1) still have a game in hand on both teams, they now trail them both by three points for the postseason.

For the second straight game, Campbell scored early. His 23rd of the season on the power play 1:58 into the contest gave the RiverKings a 1-0 lead. Then Ryan Held scored his 21st on a rebound off of a 2-on-1 at 7:17 to make it 2-0. For the second straight game, Held scored the RiverKings' second goal.

The Brahmas got on the board early in the second period. Scott Sheppard's 20th at 6:33 made it a 2-1 game. However, the RiverKings restored the two-goal lead with 3:17 remaining in the period. Aaron Davis deflected home his 15th for his first goal since his return from injury.

In the third period, Rick Kozak banged home his 22nd at 3:41 and Chad Woollard rifled home his 28th at 9:53.

Ian Keserich made 25 saves for the RiverKings. The Brahmas got 34 saves from Brett Jaeger.

The RiverKings visit the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The pre-game show begins at 6:55 p.m. on Y 96.1 FM.
