RiverKings To Hold BBQ/Pick-A-Seat Festival

(Southaven, MS) --- A free event is being planned by the Mississippi RiverKings to help start the team's 18th season of professional hockey in the Mid-South. The first annual BBQ and Pick-A-Seat Festival, catered by Natural Born Grillers, will be held Saturday, October 10th from 12 noon to 4 PM at the Ice Palace, aka DeSoto Civic Center, just off I-55 at the Church Road exit in Southaven.

The day will include food, fun, refreshment, live music, and lots more. RiverKings mascots Sheldon the Turtle and RiverThing will be patrolling the grounds and greeting those who come out. There will be bounce houses, a clown/balloon artist, and other activities for the youngsters.

The food is being provided by the award-winning Natural Born Grillers, while Coca-Cola, Heineken and Miller Lite products will also be available. Sheldon and RiverThing will be joined by Hooters girls and the Chick-Fil-A cow.

Natural Born Grillers has won several awards for its barbeque food, including the Memphis in May World Championship in 2008. State awards have also been won by the Southaven restaurant in Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Missouri, and Virginia.

The Memphis Yahoo's will provide the live music during the afternoon. The Memphis Yahoo's have been in existence since 1996 playing everything from rock, pop, alternative, fast dance and slow dance cover tunes. Many of the band members are made up of well known players in the Memphis area.

Other events surrounding the festival will also include open skating on the ice inside the building, locker room tours, and a handful of RiverKings players will be present to sign autographs.

Fans that have not purchased season tickets for the upcoming season will have the chance to view seats that have not been purchased and buy their season tickets on site that afternoon. The seats that have not been claimed will be marked and once you determine where you want your season tickets to be, take the tag for the seat to a table the RiverKings will have set up for you to make your purchase.

The event again runs from noon to 4 PM the afternoon on Saturday, October 10th, at the Ice Palace, aka DeSoto Civic Center, off I-55 at the Church Road exit in Southaven and is free of charge for an exciting afternoon of food, fun, and entertainment.

Season tickets are now available for another exciting season of RiverKings hockey, beginning Friday, October 16th against the Tulsa Oilers, and starting at 7:05 PM. Call and reserve your season tickets now at 662-342-1755.
