SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- To the surprise of eight-year-old Noah Hoskin and his family, the entire Mississippi RiverKings team flooded the Southaven Fazoli's just after 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. The team came out to show support for Noah, at the fundraiser Fazoli's hosted for him.

"I knew a RiverKings player was coming," Noah's older sister Allison Brigance said, "but I didn't expect the whole team to show up."

The idea to bring the entire RiverKings roster was Head Coach Derek Landmesser's idea.

At the fundraiser Coach Landmesser offered up words of encouragement to Noah and his family, telling them that the RiverKings were on his team in his fight against cancer.

The RiverKings presented Noah with a team-autographed helmet and jersey, along with a stuffed lion, Noah's favorite animal.

Before leaving, Noah's mother gave Coach Landmesser a hug with tears in her eyes, thankful for the team's visit, taking time to encourage her son.

On May, 3 of this year Noah was diagnosed with stage-4 neuroblastoma, resulting in five rounds of chemotherapy and two stints of radiation in just the short six months since his diagnosis.

In September, doctors at St. Jude told Noah and his family his cancer had spread, and they suggested the family go to Philadelphia and try a new treatment there.

Noah's family believed that option to be too risky, and instead switched him to a strict holistic diet and added acupuncture treatments to his regimen.

Nancy Hearden, owner of the Southaven Fazoli's on Goodman Road heard about Noah through her accountant Brenda, who is a friend of Noah's family and wanted to do something to help.

"Noah's story is one that reaches out and touches your heart. It makes you want to do something, to make a difference," Hearden said.

So Hearden's Fazoli's hosted a fundraiser for Noah on Monday, Nov. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m., donating twenty percent of all purchases made during that three hour stretch to aid Noah in his fight. In total, Hearden said the family will receive $750 from their restaurant.
