SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- The Knoxville Ice Bears (11-4-0) scored three unanswered goals, one in each period, to beat the Mississippi RiverKings (4-7-2), 3-1, at the Landers Center Friday night. It's the fourth win in four matches against the RiverKings for Knoxville.

The RiverKings opened the scoring just 1:21 into the first period. Devin Mantha won an offensive zone faceoff to Matt Whitehead. He nudged it to the point where Mike Hayward shot one past Ice Bears goalie Braely Torris for his second goal of the season to give the RiverKings a 1-0 lead. Knoxville responded late in the first as Eric Satim found a loose puck at the left circle and lifted one over the shoulder of Adam Courchaine to tie the game at one with 1:46 to play in the first.

The only goal in the second came late in the period after both sides came up empty on second-period power plays. After a RiverKings icing the Ice Bears won the ensuing faceoff in the offensive zone. Travis Janke was left all alone in front and Berkley Scott centered to him. Courchaine stopped the first shot attempt, but Janke buried the rebound for his second goal of the season to give the Ice Bears a 2-1 lead with 1:32 left in the second.

Knoxville opened the third with an insurance goal just 3:12 into the period. Ryan Salvis collected the puck at the blue line and dropped a pass for David Segal. He cut at the left circle and put a wrist shot past Courchaine for a 3-1 Ice Bears lead. The RiverKings would outshoot Knoxville 14-4 in the third, but Torris held the fort for the Ice Bears.
