FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Peoria Rivermen could only muster a second-period power play goal but still earned a point in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Fayetteville FireAntz on Friday night at Crown Coliseum.

The FireAntz opened the scoring with 11:17 left in the opening period when Corey Tamblyn collected a rebound in the slot on the run and scored low off the left post for the only first chapter goal.

The Rivermen evened the score at 1-1 with 7:37 remaining in the middle period on a power play tally by Jake Trask from the right circle assisted by Nick Schneider and Gabriel Levesque.

A scoreless third period sent the game to the extra session, and the FireAntz picked up the win for the first time in five overtime games this season as Darcy Vaillancourt converted a loose puck from the slot on the stick side 2:34 into the OT.

Kevin Murdock earned the win in goal by stopping 41 shots while Kyle Rank took the loss with 38 saves. The Rivermen were 1-for-3 on power plays while the FireAntz did not score on two chances.

The FireAntz (3-6-4) won their first one-goal game of the season and broke an 0-2-4 streak, improving to 1-4 in overtime. The Rivermen (9-4-2) fall to 1-2 in overtime games.
