RiverKings Add Two, Waive One

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today that the Mississippi RiverKings have signed forwards Luke Warner and Mike McCann to contracts. To make room on the roster, the RiverKings waived forward Matt Wray.

Warner, 21, joins the RiverKings after starting the season with the Danbury Whalers in the Federal Hockey League (FHL). The 5-foot-11, 200-pound rookie scored two goals and had 51 penalty minutes in 11 games this season. The Amherst, Nova Scotia native played his junior hockey in the QMJHL and MHL. He played eight games with Halifax in the QMJHL between 2010 and 2012. Warner also saw action with four teams in the MHL from 2010 to 2014. He had a career-high 258 penalty minutes in 47 games with Bridgewater in 2011-12.

McCann, 23, started the season with the Peoria Rivermen, where he played seven games and had two goals. The Barrington, Illinois native is in his rookie season after playing four years with Colgate University (ECAC). There the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward scored 29 points (15g, 14a) in 144 career games. He finished in the top-20 in program history in games played.

Wray, 25, played in 11 games with the RiverKings this season. The rookie added one point and 30 penalty minutes this season, including two fights. The Qualicum Beach, British Columbia native played collegiately with the University of British Columbia from 2011 to 2014, where he played 23 games in three seasons.
