Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will unveil a permanent tribute to prisoners of war (POW) and soldiers missing in action (MIA) at Highmark Stadium on Saturday, June 4.
The unveiling and dedication of the "POW/MIA Chair of Honor" will take place during halftime of the Charleston Battery match, which kicks off at 7 p.m. The chair will be a permanent fixture in section 107 of Highmark Stadium and will be accompanied by a plaque commemorating the sacrifices made by United States troops serving our nation.
In attendance for the ceremony will be Senators Wayne D. Fontana and Randy Vulakovich, who have spearheaded the cause of honoring POW/MIA soldiers in the state of Pennsylvania.
The Hounds will be the first professional sports team in Pittsburgh to dedicate a "POW/MIA Chair of Honor" to help people remember that even though our soldiers are not here, there is still a space for them. The chair will remain roped off and always unoccupied to honor American prisoners of war and those missing in action.
