Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Harrisburg, PA-The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2-5-3) fall to the Harrisburg City Islanders (2-3-2) Tuesday night at Skyline Sports Complex. At one point in the game the Riverhounds were down three goals, but the ten man side cut the score to one with twenty minutes to play. The City Islanders put to rest any chance of the Riverhounds finding the equalizer with an 89th minute goal to put the home side up 4-2.
The deciding factor in the game came in the 4th minute of play on a defensive restart by the Riverhounds. The ensuing service was intercepted by City Islander J.T. Noone and played Jose Angulo in behind the Riverhounds defense. The quick counter drew Hunter Gilstrap off his line to close Angulo which led Louie Rolko to retreat to the goal line. Angulo took a preparation touch and riffled a shot past Gilstrap. The shot was going into the goal, but struck Rolko's hand as it was tucked by his side and redirected off the far post. The referee awarded the City Islanders a penalty kick and showed Rolko a straight red for the infraction, recuding the Riverhounds to ten men for the remainder of the game. Angulo converted the penalty and put the City Islanders up early.
A counter attack starting in the middle third provided Jason Hotchkins the opportunity to pick out Morgan Langley all alone on the top of the eighteen. Langley wasted little time to tuck a right-footed shot past Gilstrap to increase the lead to two goals in the 47th minute.
The City Islanders built a solid attack down the right flank in the 55th minute to stretch the score to three. Anthany Calvano delivered a cross to the near post which landed at Noone's feet. Noone calmly turned his marker and picked his head up to serve a left-footed ball to Hotchkin at the back post. Hotchkin confidently headed the ball down and into the back of the net.
Riverhounds second half substitute Jason Yeisley would leave his mark on the game by recording two goals in three minutes. Yeisley's first would come in the 64th minute off a pass from Matt Fondy deep inside the City Islander defense. Yeisley ran down the pass and turned his marker with a cheeky cut and slid a left-footed shot past Chase Harrison.
A double cross by the Riverhounds led to Yeisley's second of the game. Stefan Lundberg out-paced his defender down the left flank and delivered a deep service which floated over the traffic and landed at the feet of Boyzzz Khumalo. Collecting the ball confidence, Khumalo served a cross to Yeisley standing alone at the back post. Yeisley brought the bouncing ball down with his chest and half-volleyed a right-footed shot into the top corner of the goal past Harrison.
An 89th minute goal from Sainey Touray provided the home side with an insurance goal and put to rest any chance of the Riverhounds converting the equalizer and earning a point.
The Riverhounds return to action this Saturday when the travel to Dayton to meet the Dutch Lions (0-4-2). The game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM Kick-Off at Miami Valley South Stadium.
The City Islanders will host the Charleston Battery (5-4-2) this Saturday for a 7:00 PM start at Skyline Sports Complex.
