TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The eighth of 17 meetings and the third of nine vs. the Frostbite at The Pound. The 'Dogs are 4-3 vs. the Frostbite, 1-1 at home. Mark Turner has nine points vs. the Frostbite; Justin Kelly has 10 vs. the 'Dogs. The Frostbite has held Richmond to under 30 shots in all seven meetings. The 'Dogs are fourth in the East, one point behind Elmira. The Frostbite is second in the East, six points back of Danbury.
LAST ACTION: Richmond lost 4-1 to Elmira Thursday here. The Jackals jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead. Three Jackals had a goal and assist. J.J. Wrobel scored for Richmond. Each team had only one power play chance. The Frostbite lost 6-5 to Flint in a shootout at home last Saturday. The Frostbite was 3-6 on the power play as the clubs combined for 138 minutes in penalties
'DOG BITES: Two of the players acquired from Kansas City Thursday, Mike Dombkiewicz and Simo Pulkki, will make their RiverDogs debuts today. Pulkki joins the 'Dogs on his 22nd birthday. Ryan Prentice had a seven game scoring streak end Thursday. Richmond has been out-scored by 15 in the second period this season. The 'Dogs are 2 for their last 25 on the power play. Trevor Senn is second in the UHL in penalty minutes and is third in majors. David Hymovitz is 16th in the league in scoring. Prentice is third in the league in shooting percentage. Kyle Sheen is tied for the league lead amongst UHL rookies in penalty minutes. Sheen and Mark Langdon are tied for second in the league in game winning goals by a rookie.
FROSTBITE NOTES: Adirondack has not played since December 18. The Frostbite has lost in regulation just once in their last 10 games. Hugo Belanger is fifth in the league in scoring. Justin Kelly is tied for sixth. The Frostbite is second in the UHL in power play percentage (21%).
NEXT UP: Richmond visits Adirondack Wednesday at 7:05 (6:50 broadcast on 1480, 990, and 1340 as well as on the internet at www.riverdogshockey.com). Richmond returns home Friday vs. Danbury at 8:05. There will be a New Year's Eve party following the game.
