
Generals get the point in shootout loss against Motor City

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League earn a shootout point but feel as though they let one slip away in the 3-2 shootout loss against the visiting Motor City Mechanics Sunday night in front of 2,754 at Perani Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Generals took a 2-0 second period lead on power play goals by Jim Duhart (17) on a redirection of the slap shot by defenseman Mike Tobin at 6:30. Defenseman J.P. Morin (3) scored just 1:05 later at 7:35 on a screen shot from the point that beat Mechanics' goaltender Rod Branch. Motor City closed the gap to 2-1 as center Blair Manning (7) scored off the rebound of a slap shot taken by left wing Jeff Goldie at 13:11 and would stay that way after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, Motor City tied it as defenseman Kyle Kos (2) scored on a shot from the slot that deflected off of on of the Generals' players' stick and fluttered into the net past goaltender Dan McIntyre for a 2-2 score at 12:57.
In the shootout, Flint was outscored two goals to one in eight shootout rounds but earn one point in the Central Division of the United Hockey League. Goaltender Dan McIntyre (8-4-3) stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Generals.
Flint (16-9-6, 38 pts.) is still in the hunt for first place in the Central Division of the United Hockey League's Central Division. Motor City (7-21-2, 16 pts.) is in fifth place in the Central Division and will host the Kalamazoo Wings on Wednesday night.
