Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC â The Charleston RiverDogs have announced the broadcast schedule for the 2005 season, which includes all but three games (two regular season) live on the AM airwaves and every game streamed live and archived on the Internet.
ESPN Radio 910 "The Team" is in its first year as the flagship radio home of the RiverDogs, and will air 124 games this season. Sister station 950 AM (WQTK) will broadcast 14 contests, while two regular season and one exhibition games will be broadcast on-line only. For the second consecutive season, Broadcastmonsters.com will provide live Internet streaming of every RiverDogs game, then make each game available on archive for the duration of the campaign.
"We are pleased to be back with Kirkman Broadcasting and have a full broadcast schedule," RiverDogs general manager Dave Echols said. "ESPN Radio 910 gives listeners throughout the Lowcountry a chance to hear our games with a clear signal, while our Internet deal with Broadcast Monsters allows fans all over the world to tune in and follow the team."
First-year play-by-play man Josh Maurer will call the action for RiverDogs broadcasts this season, while Erik Bell serves as the pre- and post-game show host. The two will also host a weekly round-up show featuring interviews, features and analysis. "Dog Talk" will lead into the Beazer Homes Pre-Game Show every Saturday on ESPN Radio 910.
"What else would you rather do Saturday night than listen to âDog Talk?'" Bell asked. "Seriously, I think the show will give fans a chance to get to know the players and coaches that won't be available anywhere else."
"Our broadcast slate puts Charleston right up there with any minor league club," Maurer said. "The ability to put our games on an ESPN Radio affiliate gives the RiverDogs tremendous exposure locally and the best possible outlet to promote the team."
The first broadcast of the season, an April 5 exhibition against the Carolina League's Myrtle Beach Pelicans, will be available on the Internet only. The regular season begins April 7 when the RiverDogs take the field for the first time as a New York Yankees affiliate, playing host to the Augusta Greenjackets. The game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 910 beginning with the pre-game show at 7 pm.
