
BlueClaws win spring tilt

LAKEWOOD, N.J. â The players that are projected to fill the Lakewood BlueClaws roster, class-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, beat the class-A club of the New York Yankees 8-3 Thursday afternoon in Clearwater, Fla.
Sean Gamble continued to do well at that plate, smashing a triple for his only hit of the afternoon and added two RBI with the hit.
Gamble is a native of Englewood, New Jersey, graduating from Jefferson Davis High School prior to attending Auburn University. Last season, Gamble led Batavia with a .308 batting average, hits (75), doubles (15), triples (6) and walks (31).
Jason Jaramillo went 2-4 at the plate, including a double and a run scored. Sam Orr went 2-3 with a run.
Carlos Carrasco had the start for the team and tossed five strong innings. The right-hander allowed three runs, all earned, on six hits while walking five and striking out six. Currently, Baseball America tabs Carrasco as the 8th-best prospect in the Phillies system.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Phillies farm clubs will take on the Toronto Blue Jays affiliates at the Carpenter Complex. In all the future BlueClaws are scheduled to complete 18 spring games. The final tilt is slated for Saturday, April 2.
Every Monday kids 12-years of age and under eat free thanks to ShopRite and fireworks follow every Friday night home game courtesy of Toyota World and Scion World of Lakewood. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against affiliates of the New York Yankees and Mets.
