Grasshoppers, Marlins announce pitching probables for Sunday

(GREENSBORO, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Florida Marlins have released pitching probables for the exhibition game between the two teams on Sunday, April 3 at First Horizon Park. Game time is 2:00PM and gates will open at 12:00PM.

Left handed pitcher, Dontrelle Willis is expected to take the mound for the Florida Marlins that afternoon. Willis (10-11) spent the 2004 season with the National League Florida Marlins with a 4.02 ERA. In 32 games Willis threw 139 strikeouts in 197 innings pitched. During spring training this season, Willis is 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA. He has pitched 28 games and allowed 26 hits.

The 6'4, 200 pound starter was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the eighth round of the 2000 draft. He was traded by Chicago along with RHP Julian Tavarez, RHPJose Cueto and C Ryan Jorgensen to the Florida Marlins for RHP Antonio Alfonseca and RHP Matt Clement in 2002.

Yorman Bazardo is expected to take the mound for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Barzardo is on the Marlins 40-man roster. The right-hander's outing during this season's spring training consisted of a perfect 1.0 inning performance in only one game played.

In 2004, Bazardo (5-9) was with Class-A Jupiter in the Florida State League. There he pitched 154 innings allowing 161 hits and 78 runs. He struck out 95 batters in 25 games. He is 6'2 and 170 pounds.

Bazardo was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Marlins in 2000.

Over 8,500 tickets for the Marlins game have been sold and the game is officially sold out. There are still tickets available for the Season Opener on April 9.

The Grasshoppers open their season on Saturday, April 9, 2005 versus the Hickory Crawdads. Game time is 7:00PM. The team will play an Exhibition Game against the Florida Marlins on Sunday, April 3 at 2:00PM before a sell-out crowd at First Horizon Park.
