River Riders Throw One-Hitter to Sweep Flyboys

Greeneville, TN - The Elizabethton River Riders threw a one-hitter on seven-inning Sunday to sweep the Flyboys with a 7-2 win.

The Flyboys (8-10) were shutout in the first 12 innings of the series before finally breaking through in the fourth inning of game two. Joel Dragoo produced the only hit of the game for Greeneville to drive home Tyler Cerny. It was Dragoo's 19th RBI of the year which leads the Appalachian League.

The River Riders (10-6) scored the game's first five runs. They picked up one in the first inning and added four more in the second when they sent nine men to the plate. Ethan Sitzman and Trey Fenderson had RBI hits in the second. Sitzman finished the game 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Fenderson was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The Flyboys scored their second run of the game in the fifth inning when Aden Hill hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Ray Ortiz. Ortiz scored his 14th run of the year and Hill picked up RBI number seven.

Roan Tarbert (0-1) started the game for Greeneville and gave up all seven runs (four earned). Seth Dudley pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

Turner Swistak started the game for the River Riders and only allowed one run in four innings. Will Bolinger (1-0) picked up the win by pitching a scoreless sixth.

The Flyboys will take an off-day with the rest of the league on Monday. Their next game will be on Tuesday against the first-place Johnson City Doughboys (13-3) at 7 p.m. local time. The Doughboys have won 10 games in a row. A link to watch the game can be found on the Flyboys website.
