River Rats, WTMM Announce New Radio Deal

Albany River Rats News Release


ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that they have reached an agreement with WTMM 104.5 FM "The Team" ESPN Radio to continue as the River Rats Flagship station for the 2008-09 AHL season.

104.5 FM "The Team" ESPN Radio will be the River Rats radio home for all 80 regular season games, with the following exceptions due to programming conflicts:

October 17th vs. Worcester - NLCS Game 6 (if necessary)

October 18th at Bridgeport - ALCS Game 6 & NLCS Game 7 (both if necessary)

October 22nd vs. Binghamton - World Series Game 1

November 8th vs. Providence - Football - Notre Dame at Boston College (TBA)

January 2nd - Allstate Sugar Bowl

During those dates the River Rats games can still be heard through Albany's live audio internet stream at their website: www.albanyriverrats.com. Streaming pay-per-view video broadcasts of every Albany game on AHL LIVE! is available at www.ahllive.com.

River Rats play-by-play broadcaster Owen Newkirk returns for his second season as the "Voice of the River Rats." This year Newkirk will be joined by former River Rats and New Jersey Devils radio broadcaster John Hennessy. Hennessy, who was the first radio play-by-play broadcaster in Albany franchise history, will be serving as the color analyst for a majority of Albany's broadcasts.

104.5 "The Team" ESPN Radio is the home for Mike & Mike in the Morning, Running with the Herd (weekday afternoons) and "Sound-off with Sinkoff" (on your drive home). "Sound-off with Sinkoff" (with Brian Sinkoff) is the Capital Region's only LOCAL afternoon sports talk show. From Section 2 athletics to Saratoga to the NFL, you can hear it on "Sound-off with Sinkoff." 104.5 "The Team" ESPN Radio is the Capital Region's New York Yankees baseball station and is the only FM sports radio station in the state of New York. In addition, "The Team" is also the home for Notre Dame football, NFL Sunday afternoon doubleheaders, MLB Sunday night baseball and the MLB Playoffs.
