Houston Aeros News Release
THIS WEEK'S GAMES
Houston will play a home-and-home series this weekend with I-10 rival San Antonio Rampage. Saturday's contest will be in Houston at 7:35 p.m. at Toyota Center in the Aeros' 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game. Sunday's game is slated to start at 5 p.m. at AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Rampage will visit Houston for the 36th time (71st overall) in series history on Saturday with the Aeros boasting a 27-6-2-0 record at home. Sunday, when the Aeros travel to San Antonio, will mark the 36th game in their rink where Houston has a 17-11-4-3 record.
Returning Aero Bryan Lundbohm leads Houston with 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in 43 contests against the Rampage. Hamilton has averaged .67 points per game against San Antonio. Nolan Schaefer leads Aeros' goaltenders with an 8-3-0 record against the Rampage, a 1.82 goals against average and a .935 save percentage with three shutouts, one last season.
After this weekend Houston won't see either Milwaukee or San Antonio again until a three-in-three stretch hosting the Admirals, traveling to San Antonio and back to host Milwaukee on November 28-30.
WEEK IN REVIEW
Opening weekend proved to be in the Houston Aeros' favor with the team winning the first two games of the season for only the second time in team history. Houston defeated the defending Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves on Saturday's season opener with a 2-1 overtime victory. The win snapped a two-game losing streak in opening night contests.
Monday's 3-0 shutout of the Milwaukee Admirals marked the first shutout in the AHL this season and tied Houston for a piece of the West Division lead with Rockford and Iowa at four points. The Aeros stand alone as the only undefeated team in the West Division. Forward Krys Kolanos, who tallied Saturday's game-winning goal in overtime, contributed two insurance goals Monday night which put him in a tie for third in the league with three goals.
Left Wing Ryan Hamilton netted the first goal against the Admirals which proved to be the game winner for his first point of the young season. Goaltender Nolan Schaefer has both Aeros wins to his record including his seventh shutout in an Aeros' uniform.
