Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats are proud to announce recent signings by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes reached agreements with defensemen Tin Conboy and J.D. Forrest along with forwards Mike Angelidis, Scott Kelman and Shane Willis.

Conboy, 24, totaled six goals and 14 assists for 20 points with 124 penalty minutes in 78 games for the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League during the 2005-06 season. The Farmington, MN, native has totaled 35 points (10-25) with 258 penalty minutes in 139 career regular season AHL games and was originally San Jose's sixth choice (217th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Forrest, 25, played for Assat Pori of SM-Liiga, the top professional league in Finland in 2005-06. He ranked third among team defensemen with six goals and five assists for 11 points in 43 games. He notched four assists in 14 playoff contests. Forrest played for Boston College and was part of the United States National Team Developmental Program from 1997 through 2000. The Auburn, NY, native was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Angelidis, 21, ranked third in the Ontario Hockey League with 53 goals, skating for Owen Sound during the 2005-06 season. Angelidis ranked third on the Attack in goals, points (78), and second in penalty minutes (167). The Woodbridge, Ont., native was named 2005-06 OHL First-Team All Star and received the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy as the 2005-06 OHL Humanitarian of the Year.

Kelman, 25, scored six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 24 AHL games split between Manitoba, Hershey and Lowell in 2005-06. He recorded 13 points (6-7) in 19 games with Carolina's prospects in Lowell. The Winnipeg, Mtb., native was Phoenix's first-round selection (15th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Kelman has registered 22 points (8-14) and 90 penalty minutes in 66 career AHL games with San Antonio, Manitoba, Hershey and Lowell.

Willis, 29, played 32 games with HC Davos of Nationalliga A in Switzerland before finishing the regular season with Linkopings HC in the Swedish Elite League in 2005-06. He scored five goals and 15 assists for 20 points with Davos and led Linkoping in goals (6) and points (11) in 13 SEL playoff games. Willis was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the fourth round (88th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft and was selected to the NHL All-Rookie team in 2000-01. The Edmonton native has notched 196 points (92-104) in 243 career AHL games.

The Albany River Rats, set to begin their 14th season as a member of the American Hockey League in October, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and now serve as the primary affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes.
