Canucks Re-Sign Lee Goren

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have re-signed forward Lee Goren to a new contract.

Goren, 29, appeared in 28 games last season with the Canucks. In that time, he scored a goal and collected a pair of assists for three points and 30 penalty minutes. After being re-assigned to the Moose on December 30/05, the Winnipeg native went on to finish the season on almost a point-per-game pace by scoring 22 goals and 19 assists for 41 points in 42 games. He also collected 84 penalty minutes. In 13 post-season games with the Moose, Goren scored three goals, including an overtime winner in Game 5 of the North Division Semi-Final versus Syracuse, as well as seven assists for 10 points and 27 penalty minutes.

In his first season with the Moose in 2004-05, Goren set new Moose franchise records with 16 powerplay goals and a +24 ranking. In the playoffs that year, Goren was Manitoba's leading goal-scorer, recording 10 goals and 13 points. At the end of the season, Goren was Manitoba's nominee for AHL Man of the Year and was also the winner of the team's Community Service Award in 2005. Overall, Goren has 54 goals and 49 assists for 103 points in 121 career games with the Moose.

Goren has played in 65 career NHL games with Boston, Florida, and Vancouver, where he has scored five goals and four assists for nine points and 44 penalty minutes.

Goren was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins 63rd overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally signed by the Canucks as a free agent on July 7th, 2004.
