
River Rats Add Three To Roster

ALBANY, NY-The Albany River Rats announced today that goaltender Justin Pogge (POH-gee), left wing Oskar Osala (OH-sa-la) and center Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll (la-LAWND mihk-NIH-kohl) have been assigned to Albany by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Pogge, 23, played in seven NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008-09, and has a career NHL record of 1-4-1 with a 4.35 goals-against average. He has spent the 2009-10 season with San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL), posting a 12-7-3 record with a 2.57 goals-against average and.920 save percentage. In 165 career AHL games with Toronto and San Antonio, Pogge has earned a record of 83-63-14, with a 2.69 goals-against average. The Ft. McMurray, Alb., native was Toronto's first choice, 90th overall, in the third round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Ducks from the Maple Leafs on Oct. 8, 2009, in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Osala, 22, has scored 15 goals and earned 14 assists (29 points) in 53 games this season with the American Hockey League-leading Hershey Bears. The Vaasa, Finland, native began his North American professional career last season, registering 23 goals and 14 assists (37 points) in 75 regular-season games with Hershey. Osala (6'4", 225 lbs.) notched six goals and earned four assists (10 points) in the Bears' 22-game march to the AHL's 2009 Calder Cup championship. Washington drafted Osala in the fourth round, 97th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his NHL debut in 2008-09, playing in two games with the Capitals.
LaLonde-McNicoll, 21, is in his first full professional campaign, spending most of the season with Lake Erie of the American Hockey League (AHL). He has totaled five goals and eight assists (13 points) in 45 games with the Monsters on the AHL level, and has also played four games with Charlotte of the ECHL, totaling four points (1g, 3a). LaLonde-McNicoll (5'10", 178 lbs.) was signed by Colorado as an undrafted free agent on March 6, 2009, after scoring 104 points (38g, 66a) in 65 games during his final season of junior hockey with Shawinigan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He was named to the QMJHL's First All-Star Team in 2008-09, and earned the QMJHL's most sportsmanlike player and the Canadian Hockey League's Sportsman of the Year award for the second consecutive season.
