
Florida Sends Repik And Roy To Rochester

(Rochester, March 4)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have assigned right wing Michal Repik to the Amerks. The Panthers also reassigned defenseman Mathieu Roy to Rochester from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
Repik returns to Rochester after playing in two games on his latest recall by the Panthers. He was in the lineup last night and played 10:31 in Florida's 7-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The 21 year old has played in 16 games and has two goals and two assists. With Rochester, the Vlasim, Czech Republic, native is fifth on the team with 38 points (19+19) in 45 games. The second-year forward has three goals and three assists in his last eight appearances. He was originally Florida's second-round selection (40th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Florida reassigned Roy to Rochester after acquiring him on Wednesday from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Matt Rust. Roy, 26, started the season in the National Hockey League and played in 32 games with Columbus, collecting 10 assists. He has also spent 14 games in the American Hockey League with the Syracuse Crunch. The St. Georges, Quebec, native has registered four assists with the Crunch this season.
In his career, Roy has played in 326 professional games and amassed 19 goals and 92 assists. He has spent the majority of his career, 255 games to be exact, in the AHL with teams in Edmonton, Hamilton, Springfield and Syracuse. The defenseman was originally selected by Edmonton in the seventh round (215th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He signed with Columbus as a free agent on July 14, 2009.
The Amerks kickoff their three-game road trip on Friday, March 5th as they return to the Glens Falls Civic Center to battle the East Division Adirondack Phantoms. The 7:30 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
