River Otters Hammer Komets 4-0; Reiter Earns Shutout

February 13, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

Kevin Reiter stole the show with a 41-save shutout as the Missouri River Otters hammered the Fort Wayne Komets 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Allen County Coliseum.

It took only 14 seconds for the River Otters to grab the lead, as Jim Montgomery stole the puck from a Komets defenseman, skated in on a breakaway, and beat Kevin St. Pierre with a top-shelf wrister. Six minutes later the River Otters extended their lead when Frank Littlejohn took a drop pass from Glenn Detulleo and rifled a shot behind St. Pierre for his first goal with Missouri. The River Otters didn't stop there, however, as Charlie Blyth hammered home the rebound of a Barret Jackman shot for his 14th goal of the season. The goal moved Blyth into sole possession of fourth place on the River Otters All-Time Scoring List with 168 points.

Kevin Reiter stopped all 21 shots he faced in the second period, including a penalty shot by Tom Nelson, and the River Otters took a three-goal lead into the final period. Blyth added an unassisted goal in the third period, and the River Otters won 4-0. Kevin Reiter made 41 saves for his third shutout of the season, while St. Pierre made 22 saves in the loss.

The River Otters will host the Rockford IceHogs Wednesday night at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Webcast at www.riverotters.com.
