Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- In their only meeting of the 2004-05 regular season, the Rockford IceHogs dropped a 4-2 game against the Adirondack Frostbite in front of 4,852 at the Rockford MetroCentre Saturday Night. The Hogs failed to win a game for the first time this season after scoring the contest's first goal.
While on the power play, the IceHogs capitalized twice early in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Center Alex Kim set up winger Chris Gobert on the doorstep at 5:33 of the opening period to put Rockford on the board while skating 5-on-3. The Frostbite got a skater back but Rockford remained on the advantage and forward J.C. Ruid knocked in another Kim pass at 6:30 for the two-goal lead.
Adirondack responded however, on the very next shift with an even strength marker from newly acquired defenseman Bob Rapoza at 6:53 of the opening period. Then just 55 seconds later on a power play, another new Frostbite skater, Greg Koehler, chipped in the equalizer.
Winger Ryan Bennett tipped in the eventual game-winning goal at 14:29 of the second period for Adirondack and deflecting a shot past Hogs goalie Michel Robinson. The Frostbite put the game away in the third frame after Trevor Burgess fired in another power play goal at 13:50.
Robinson turned away 23 Adirondack shots but was out done by Chris Tebbs, who made 32 saves pushing his record to 8-1-0. After scoring on their first two power play opportunities, Rockford finished the game 2-for-10 on the advantage while Adirondack was 2-for-3.
