Missouri River Otters News Release
The Missouri River Otters tied a franchise record for winning margin with an explosive 8-0 shellacking of the Kansas City Outlaws Sunday afternoon at the Family Arena. The Otters were led by Mat Snesrud's four assists, Quinten Van Horlick's two goals, and Kevin Reiter's first professional shutout.
The Otters struck first on a power play goal. Mat Snesrud played a nice pass to Charlie Blyth at the right face-off circle, and the Otters winger unleashed a blistering slap shot that beat Outlaws goaltender Maxime Gingras top shelf.
The second period was where the Otters put the game out of reach, scoring five goals. Justin Quenneville, Chris Bell, Mark Odut, Quinten Van Horlick, and Brian Heckendorn all scored in the middle period, with Snesrud picking up three assists.
The rout continued in the third period, as George Cantrall scored his second goal of the year on a wicked wrister, and Van Horlick picked up his second tally of the game with a great deflection.
Reiter made 18 saves for the shutout, his first as a professional, while the Otters uncorked 43 shots at the Outlaws goaltenders. The River Otters next game is this upcoming Friday when they'll host the Muskegon Fury at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:05, and all the action can be heard on ESPN 1380-AM and the B2 Webcast, located at www.riverotters.com.
